David Victor - Bio
San Francisco Bay Area native vocalist/guitarist David Victor first picked up a guitar at the age of 16 after seeing his sister’s boyfriend strum a few chords. At age 18, David began performing with several original hard rock and cover bands in northern California. After graduating with a degree in Computer Science from California State University East Bay in 1989, David financed, wrote, recorded and produced his first commercial release PROOF THROUGH THE NIGHT.
David put together the original rock act VELOCITY in 1996 and recorded and produced the debut album IMPACT in 1997 which included veteran drummer Pat Torpey (Mr. Big, Robert Plant, The Knack) on drums. VELOCITY was a dynamic live act that would go on to play numerous shows throughout the western U.S. through 2001. As a result of touring as well as U.S. and Canadian commercial rock radio airplay, VELOCITY’s IMPACT and the follow-up album ACTIVATOR went on to sell briskly in the U.S. and especially Utah where the album received regular airplay. IMPACT sold worldwide with deals on Europe’s MTM Records and Japan’s AVEX records and continues to sell to this day.
In 1999, David moved to Los Angeles to explore new live musical opportunities. LA bands included the BOSTON tribute band SMOKIN’, a high-level rock jam band EXILE SOCIAL CLUB (featuring Chuck Wright of QUIET RIOT on bass, Jason Hook of FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH on guitar and Pat Torpey of MR. BIG and ROBERT PLANT on drums) and several corporate party bands.
In 2009, a YouTube video featuring David performing the BOSTON song “Smokin'” caught the attention of BOSTON founder Tom Scholz, who tapped David to join BOSTON for recording and touring on their 2012 and 2014 North American and Canadian tours. During BOSTON shows, David sang many BOSTON hits including “Peace Of Mind”, “More Than A Feeling” and BOSTON’s 1986 #1 single “Amanda”. While with the band, David toured the U.S. and Canada, adding his guitar playing and vocals to the shows.
David also appeared at BOSTON’s first show in over 20 years in the city of Boston in May 2013, as the band opened the “Boston Strong” benefit for the Boston Marathon bombing victims. The show opened with the “Star Spangled Banner”, while the entire audience stood on their feet with their hands on their hearts. David was fortunate to close the show, singing the finale song “Come Together”, on stage with Aerosmith and Steven Tyler.
In addition to his live work with BOSTON, David was featured as lead vocalist on BOSTON’s #1 classic rock charting single “Heaven on Earth” from their 2014 album “Life, Love & Hope”.
David regularly performs as lead vocalist and guitarist with acts he co-founded including the new ROCK IN AMERICA, PLATINUM ROCKSTARS (a multi-artist classic rock show band) and BOSTYX, a classic rock experience of BOSTON and STYX.
Of the new ROCK IN AMERICA show, David says: “I’ve never been more proud or excited of any musical project I’ve ever undertaken than this one. This show represents everything I’ve ever loved and learned about music and performing over my 38 years as a musician and vocalist. The band is really cooking, we have some incredible visuals and we are super excited to perform our debut shows later this year. The audiences are in for a rock ‘n roll joyride like they’ve never seen!”
